To all my readers, contributors, friends, and family:
May you have the best of Holiday Seasons this year.
As they would do in Olim, please find time to go to the Gabriel Tavern, and enjoy a tankard of ale with some slumps and grunts.

Many times people ask me when is the best time to practice, write, paint, design, or do some creative endeavor. I always remind them that “when the muse calls, answer it.” I also tell them to not force the muse to make the call. You cannot force the creativity out of you, but every person is different. Some may sit at their “tool” (a computer, an easel, a piano), and eventually the muse will call. And sometimes they sit, and sit, and sit.
But do not despair. Just work at your craft. I promise you that you will get that call, and when you do, watch out; something wonderful may just pop out of you!
I have many interests, but lately I’ve been a cheerleader for advanced research in ophthalmology, particularly with retinal detachments. Stickler’s Syndrome is a genetic disorder that can wreak havoc with bones, connective tissue, breathing and swallowing, hearing, and vision. Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia is doing some outstanding work in retinal research, and is working on the Argus II, an initiative that is looking to create the first practical bionic eye. This research could help those with Stickler’s regain their eyesight due to the disorder. Sure, it borders on sci-fi, but the knowledge and technology exists to make it so.
As this website grows, please look at my links for contributing and raising money to continue this research.
The old website will be re-organized over the next few months.
You’ll still be able to find my old content by going to www.gregorysafko.com/index.html_ (yes, that’s an underscore at the end.)
In the upcoming new year I’ll post all my work in music, graphics, teaching, writing, and of course my bloggings.
